Class Description

The class will gather at the MET at 1 PM with Instructor Sherry Camhy at the Patio from the Castle of Vélez Blanco, 1506–15 Gallery 534 (to the left of the Grand Staircase in front of the Watson Library – look for Art Students League logo) to learn the focus for the day and again at 3 PM in the ground floor cafeteria of the Met to share, discuss and review their artwork. There will be talks about old master’s techniques and contemporary concepts of art ranging from traditional, historic, realistic, Hudson Valley, impressionist and abstract approaches to human, animal and landscape subjects. Students can choose to draw inside the museum or outside in the park or the zoo. What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon in the Summer! Admission is pay as you wish with Art Students League ID.

About the Instructor

Sherry Camhy’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States and abroad, and reviewed in ArtNews, TimeOut/NY, and International Artist magazines. She is the author of Art of the Pencil, the Material World column of Drawing magazine, and articles for Fine Art Connoisseiur. When not giving workshops at the Art Students League, the School of Visual Arts, and the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, Ms. Camhy can be found in her studio in West Chelsea, New York.
