What We Do: Studio Art Classes, Support for Artists

Artists in Studio 7 work from the model in Thomas Torak's afternoon painting class.

We Offer Affordable Studio Art Classes Taught by Leading Professional Artists

Prominent artists at the League teach drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, welding and assemblage in 100 affordable studio art classes. Monthly registration and convenient schedules give you the freedom to personalize your own education.

Choose from morning, afternoon, late afternoon, or evening art classes; or attend on the weekend—whatever fits your schedule. “Full-time” classes meet five-days or evenings a week, with the instructor present two of those days. “Part-time” art classes meet once or twice a week with the instructor present one or both sessions. You can begin your art experience here by finding a class.

Founded by Artists, We Support Artists

What we do: Instructor and student

Artists who have studied and taught at the Art Students League have set the course of American art for 140 years. We provide a hands-on studio education accessible to anyone who truly aspires to develop as an artist — whether you are seeking to pursue a profession in the fine arts or just beginning your artistic journey. Our supportive community is diverse in age, background and experience: students strive together to learn.

We also fully support the professional development of emerging artists with residencies and opportunities to exhibit, sell, and teach.

We Change Lives

The Café Atelier

Studying at the League was the most important component to my art training. My experiences here helped me focus on my art career in ways that my BFA from another 4-year institution did not.
