Painting Roses

This painting workshop is dedicated to the rose form. Students interested in attending the workshop should have good drawing skills, and be working in oils. Workshop begins with demo and lecture on color mixing, and neutral colors. Mapping, understanding the architecture of the rose, and color relating are key topics. Students should bring two 10″x10″, or 11″x14″ white primed canvases, or canvas boards to the workshop.

About the Instructor

Karen O’Neil has been instructing painting courses and workshops throughout the Northeast for two decades. A graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, Ms. O’Neil studied in Provincetown with Henry Hensche and also at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has been the recipient of regional fellowships, and has been an artist-in-residence at Millay colony.

Ms. O’Neil’s award-winning work is included in numerous private and corporate collections in New York, including Pfizer and Memorial Sloan Kettering. She is represented by George Billis, NY, and Edgewater Galleries, VT. Her work has been featured in many print publications, as well as online blogs.
