Students will learn about the Indo-Persian miniature painting approach during an intensive, weekend workshop focusing on portraiture. Participants will study the stylization, techniques and composition employed in traditional miniature painting. The primary process explored in this course will be the ancient technique of painting with tea. In addition, students will learn how to prepare painting surfaces, mix traditional miniature paints using gum arabic and apply gold leaf.
Workshop participants will be required to bring in a 5 x 7 inch photograph of themselves standing in profile.
