This weekend course series will explore the artist's relationship to the natural world and how one finds an image that reflects this exploration.

Working with the idea of collaboration with nature rather than the appropriation of it, we will delve into what it means to observe, explore and how that perception affects our choices and ideas.

Students will be encouraged to push themselves beyond their assumptions of what things are, how things appear, whether it be through painting, drawing, sculpture, site-specific work or non traditional methods. Discussion and talks will include commentary from James Hillman, Mermer Blakeslee and other guests as an integral part of the course.
