The Restoration of Classical European Sculpture:
The extraordinary journey of an artist in the reconstruction of sculptures in the most renowned European monuments with Dionisio Cimarelli
This lecture examines the restoration of classic sculpture and architecture including examples from the Louvre in Paris; the Royal Church Christiansborg Slotskirke in Copenhagen, Denmark; the Great Cathedral of Strasbourg, France; The Institution of Civil Engineers, in Westminster, London; and the Royal Palace and Riddarhuset in Stockholm, Sweden. Cimarelli will show and described the various phases and procedures of restoration in different materials including stone, marble, plaster, concrete, and clay.
