Silya Kiese
Sculpture and Process

Silya Kiese's teaching philosophy is "to be true to art and to open eyes." Ms. Kiese's class explores an innovative sculptural process that pulsates with the excitement of creating something new. The process includes making improvisational sculptural forms, including life-size sculpture using color patina, metal, wood, found objects and many other materials.

Ms. Kiese attended the Art Students League of New York; the University of California, Los Angeles and The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, where she received an M.F.A. degree.

She has lectured at Rutgers University; Johann Wolfgang Goethe University; Seattle Pacific University; Evergreen State College,Washington; Silvermine School of Art, Connecticut; the University of California at Berkeley and the School of Visual Arts, New York City.

Her installations and life-size sculptures are exhibited internationally.
