THE LEAGUE's VYTLACIL CAMPUS IN Sparkill, New York

Art Students League Vytlacil Campus

Located in historic Sparkill, New York, the Vytlacil Campus is an integral part of the Art Students League. It provides education and support to working artists in the studio-based, atelier tradition and to experiment and explore different areas of art making in its spacious and pastoral setting. The campus is a meeting place, forum and residency for outstanding students and practicing artists from around the world.

The Art Students League's Vytlacil Campus in Rockland County is the home of the Vytlacil Campus Artist-in-Residence Program and the site of ongoing critiques and workshops. The League received the generous gifts of property and funding for the campus in 1995 from the family of the late artist and League instructor Vaclav Vytlacil.

The facilities include a restored residence and painting barn of Vaclav Vytlacil—which now serves as the Elizabeth V. Sullivan Gallery, houses the library, provides living space for our Artists-In-Residence—and a new fully accessible resident/studio building. Additional studios include the Trudy & Henry Gillette north-lit painting barn and annex, and the newly built sculpture studio that includes a foundry, forging and welding facilities, and a large walk-in kiln—a complete studio to pursue all sculptural endeavors.

The beautiful property is on 15 acres of wooded grounds near the west bank of the Hudson River, south of the Tappan Zee Bridge, and about a 40-minute drive from our Midtown Manhattan Campus.
