Sherry Camhy
Painterly Drawing (Life Drawing as an Intro. to Painting)
 

The focus of this class is to provide students with the knowledge they need to reach their goals as artists. The transition from drawing to painting, old master techniques and contemporary concepts, traditional and modern materials, anatomy, color, and composition are all studied through portrait, figure, still life and landscape subjects.

Sherry Camhy has a master’s degree from Columbia University and studied dissection at New York University Medical School Ms. Camhy’s work is in the permanent collection of the Israel Museum, New Orleans Museum of Fine Art, Telfair Museum, and the New York Public Library. It has been exhibited at the Parrish Art Museum, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Katonah Museum, Montclair Art Museum, Arnot Museum, Evansville Museum, the Eleanor Ettinger Gallery, Sherry French Gallery, and Salander–O’Reilly Galleries, among others.

Her work has been reviewed in Time Out New York, American Artist and ARTnews. It has been featured in the magazines, Drawing and Fine Art Connoisseur. Watson-Guptill published her book, Art of the Pencil.
When she is not teaching at the Art Students League of New York, the School of Visual Arts, New York University or the New York Academy of Art, Ms. Camhy can be found working in her studio in West Chelsea.
